Eating Disorders
Eating Disorders are largely misunderstood and trivialized in our modern culture. If you or a loved one are struggling with an ED, you know they are far from simple or surface-level. ED’s are complex disorders stemming from a combination of biological, psychological and social factors. While there are common themes we find in those struggling, such as a need for control, perfectionism, a lack of identity, and trauma, they are unique to each individual and should be treated as such.
I have experience working with all types of ED’s, from Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, EDNOS (Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified), and ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food/Intake Disorder). In my treatment with individuals struggling, I work psychodynamically to help the individual develop awareness as to the causations of their disorder, their triggers, and help them to develop healthy coping mechanisms that don’t involve food. In addition, we work on creating a healthier body image and relationship with food itself.
Depending on the severity of the ED, I may recommend a higher-level of care (such as inpatient or outpatient treatment) and I also always work with a treatment team with trusted professionals such as nutritionists and MD’s to help monitor the patient and provide the proper support.

Self-Confidence
In today’s world of social media and the constant pressure to perform and look your best, it is extremely common to struggle with some form of self-confidence. I look at this issue as a lack of trust with yourself. When you work on repairing the relationship you have with your own inner child, and you increase your capacity for self-love, you can trust that you are making the decisions that are best for you. You will also be able to listen to your inner voice and strengthen this voice so that the outside noise does not impact you in such a profound way.
Whether you are struggling with motivation, a sense of belonging, an inability to use your voice, or with any aspect of your appearance, we can work together on building a healthier relationship with yourself by challenging your limiting beliefs and unhealthy thought patterns that keep you stuck. You deserve to feel confident from within, whether or not you believe that right now. I’m here to help you develop a greater sense of self that you love and are proud of.

Anxiety/OCD
Anxiety can take on many forms, and each one is valid and must be treated with patience and understanding. It’s easy to get frustrated with ourselves or to get anxious at the thought of being anxious, but as we know, that only exacerbates the issue. When working with anxiety, I try and help decrease the shame around the anxiety so that we can get to the root of the issue in order to properly work on it.
What we don’t always recognize is that our anxiety can be beneficial, such as when it’s indicating an actual issue or showing us that we deeply care about the subject at hand. But, of course, our anxiety can also get out of hand and greatly impact our daily lives. In our work, I will help you develop an awareness about the root causes and manifestations of your anxiety, and figure out how we can make it more manageable so that it isn’t holding you back.
With OCD specifically, I will always recommend a combination of SSRI’s and therapy as both are proven to work best for this specific issue. I will refer out to a psychiatrist as needed.

Relationship Dynamics
Who hasn’t struggled with some form of complex relationship dynamic? You are far from alone if you find yourself struggling with a relationship in your life that is having a negative impact on your mental health. Whether the issue is communication, competition, or more serious forms of relational difficulty (narcissism, scapegoating, etc.), I’m here to help you navigate it. Oftentimes, the issue is not just with this one individual, but it is a pattern in which you are finding yourself in other dynamics in your life.
In our work together, I will help you develop awareness and insight into what is causing the relationship troubles (whether with a partner, a family member, a friend, a co-worker, etc.). We will work on healthy communication, boundary-setting, and develop a tool-box of coping skills you can utilize to help you. Ultimately, the relationship with yourself will inform every other relationship in your life. Through our work together, you will develop a stronger sense of self that will carry over into all of your relationship(s).

Pregnancy / Postpartum
As a new mother myself, having just experienced pregnancy and postpartum and the variety of issues it can bring up physically, psychologically and socially, I’m passionate about helping other women navigate this complex, transformative journey. Whether you’re struggling with body image, a loss of identity, anxiety or depression, I am here to help you come back to a sense of equilibrium.
While you may have family or friends whom you can talk to when you’re feeling alone or need support on this journey, sometimes it can add unnecessary stress about even having to seek that help or to hear the plethora of different opinions people will offer during this delicate time. I will offer a supportive, non-judgmental space where we can work together on figuring out how you are feeling and how we can best navigate it so that you can feel whole, balanced and aligned. After all, we cannot pour from an empty cup, and you and your baby both will benefit from you taking the time to work on yourself!

Life Transitions
Whether you’ve just started a new job, began or ended a relationship, moved, or are undergoing any other life transition, you are probably feeling like the earth has moved a bit under your feet. When we are going through a life change of any sort, we are often met not only with the challenges of the actual change but with a variety emotions that are surfacing. While adding therapy to your list of to-do’s during such a change may feel even more stressful, taking the time to sort through the surfaced emotions will help you more easily navigate this transition.
I’m here to help offer a supportive, trusting space where you can explore what is coming up for you emotionally during this time period. Through our work together, you can develop the insights and tools to move into this new chapter with more ease and confidence.

Depression
While depression comes in many forms, what we do know about depression is that it can be difficult to manage anything else day to day when you are struggling. Whether you’re dealing with a lack of motivation or feeling dissociated or in a fog, I’m here to help you come back to yourself and find your purpose. Oftentimes, those who are struggling with depression do not even know why they are feeling the way they are. That’s okay. You don’t need to have the answers to want or deserve to feel better. You just need the willingness and courage to show up, and if you have both, you are well on your way to the light and clarity you seek.
I will evaluate the severity of your depression, and if need be, I will recommend a higher level of care such as outpatient or inpatient treatment. I also will refer to a psychiatrist for medication if indicated as well.
